Prerequisites for the Nursing Program
Students who hold a Bachelor’s Degree or a University Parallel Associate’s Degree prior to the start of upper division nursing coursework:
General Biology
Microbiology, Human Anatomy & Physiology I & II
Medical Terminology
Introduction to Sociology
Human Growth and Development
Fundamentals of Chemistry
Statistics of the Behavioral Sciences
College Algebra or Math for the Liberal Arts
The following courses are required for all applicants that do not have a Bachelor’s Degree or a University Parallel Associate’s Degree prior to the start of upper division nursing coursework. Those with a * following them (up to nine hours) can be taken in the summer semester when nursing classes are not being held:
English Composition I and II
College Algebra or Math for the Liberal Arts
General Biology
Microbiology, Human Anatomy & Physiology I & II
Medical Terminology
US History I and II or World Civilization I and II *
Introduction to Literature or Topics in Literature *
Fine Arts Elective *
Fundamentals of Speech
Introduction to Sociology
Human Growth and Development
Fundamentals of Chemistry
Statistics of the Behavioral Sciences
Introduction to Microcomputer Applications *
Students transferring in with a degree are exempt from General Biology if credit is awarded for Microbiology, Human Anatomy & Physiology I &II. In addition, students with a degree may also be exempt from College Algebra if credit is awarded for Statistics of Behavioral Science.
