The Rudy School of Nursing is hosting its second annual Heartbeat Heroes Nursing Camp on July 15th & 16th, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Nursing Camp will introduce high school students to the world of nursing and guide them in their decision to pursue a career in the medical field. 

During the course of the event, attendees will learn about what it means to be a nurse, as well as the many different careers that a nurse can have. They will also have the chance to meet some of Cumberland’s nursing faculty and current undergraduate nursing students as they participate in breakout sessions in our brand new simulation labs. These breakout sessions will teach them about patient assessment, basic skills, and more! Attendees will get to insert IVs, administer medications, practice injections, and participate in a simulation with one of our high-fidelity manikins!

This year we are excited for Day 1 to take place at Cumberland University’s School of Nursing and Day 2 to take place at Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital in Lebanon, TN. On Day 2 of Nursing Camp, students will have the opportunity to shadow nurses on patient care units at Vanderbilt Wilson County!

Attendees view an Admissions presentation with a specific focus on requirements for our nursing program and our new Guaranteed Nursing Admissions. They’ll also hear about CU’s new Nursing Living and Learning Community (LLC), 4SOUTH!

Due to the high volume of applicants for this program, participants will be selected after the application deadline. 

Deadline for submission is Thursday, June 13th at 11:59PM.

Registration is $35 and includes supplies, lunch, and a t-shirt! 

Eligible students must be a rising high school Freshman or a high school Sophomore, Junior, or Senior.
