Join Cumberland University for a Reading With Dr. Annette Sisson From Winter Sharp With Apples

Cumberland University is excited to welcome poet and professor Dr. Annette Sisson to campus on November 7 to read from her new book, Winter Sharp With Apples, published by Terrapin Books. The special event will take place in the Dorris and Harry Vise Library at 3:30 pm and is open to the public.

Dr. Sisson is an accomplished author with over 125 published works across a variety of respected literary magazines and anthology collections. She has earned multiple awards in her career, including Nashville’s own Porch Writers Collective’s Poetry Prize in 2019. 

Winter Sharp With Apples is Dr. Sisson’s second full-length book of poetry, following the 2022 release of Small Fish in High Branches with Glass Lyre Press. She also published a chapbook in 2019, A Casting Off, and is currently working on completing a new collection. 

In addition to her creative work, Dr. Sisson has spent the entirety of her professional career at Belmont University. She is a Professor of English and the Director of Graduate English, inspiring the next generation of creative writers.

This reading is a chance for students, faculty, staff, and the community to experience the power of storytelling and hear Dr. Sisson’s captivating work come to life firsthand.
