Cumberland University is excited to host retired President and Chairman of Tractor Supply Company Joe Scarlett on campus for a speaking engagement with business students in the Labry School of Science, Technology, and Business on April 13.
With nearly 30 years of leadership experience at Tractor Supply Company, Scarlett is known for developing a company-focused culture that has been widely replicated across the country. In addition to Scarlett being previously recognized as Ernst & Young’s Southeast Entrepreneur of the Year, Tractor Supply Company was honored by Forbes as one of the “Best Managed Companies in America.” Today, Scarlett supports the development of community leaders, future entrepreneurs and advancing his family foundation’s mission to improve educational outcomes across Middle Tennessee and serving in the bipartisan Beacon Center.
“We are fortunate that our Business Advisory Council will not only play a role in advancing our Business programs through intentional partnership and mentorship, but that our students will be directly impacted by their generosity and the sharing of their time, talents, and tools for success,” said Dean Fuller.
Scarlett is one of approximately 30 prominent professionals serving on Cumberland’s newly resurrected Business Advisory Council (BAC). The BAC exists to support and advise the Office of the Dean and will work in close collaboration with Labry School Dean, Dr. Chris Fuller, to provide a number of resources and expertise. Additionally, BAC members will work directly with Assistant Professor of Business and Faculty Liaison, Dr. Karah Sprouse.
“We are immensely grateful for the experiences and expertise Joe and the entire Business Advisory Council are offering to our Labry School,” said University President Paul C. Stumb. “It’s a special opportunity for our faculty and students to have access to this terrific network of professionals and their cornucopia of knowledge.”
