Cumberland University will kick off its annual Homecoming festivities on Oct. 18 through Oct. 23 with events for students, alumni and the community. This year’s Homecoming theme is Peace, Love & Phoenix, inspired by the Cordell Hull Peace Forum and in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the 1971 class.
Student Life will host a variety of activities for students throughout Homecoming week, including creative art night, movie nights, tie dye dress up day, 70s-themed skate night and spirit day. Students will be emailed a full schedule of events hosted by the Office of Student Life.
On Oct. 22 at 6 p.m., alumni are invited to enjoy food, drinks and fun at the annual Party on the Patio at the Catron Alumni House. It is encouraged to dress in 60s and 70s-inspired clothes in correlation with the Homecoming theme.
On Oct. 23 at Nokes-Lasater Field, tailgating will begin at 11:30 a.m. and Cumberland’s football team will play against Bethel University at 1:30 p.m. The homecoming court and the crowning of king and queen will take place during halftime. Everyone from the community is welcome to attend the Homecoming tailgate and game.
