Cumberland University announced this year’s Symphony on the Lawn will take place on Saturday June 10, 2023 at 7:30 p.m. This event promises an enchanting live music experience by the Nashville Symphony, which has served as the primary ambassador for classical music in Music City and throughout Middle Tennessee since 1946.
For the first time in 30 years of Cumberland hosting this event, visitors will enjoy the picturesque, newly renovated entrance of the university’s flagship building, Memorial Hall. During last summer’s Symphony on the Lawn, the front entrance was still undergoing remodeling.
Community members are invited to find a spot on the lawn in front of Memorial Hall where they can set up lawn chairs and enjoy a picnic before the concert begins. Visitors will also have several food trucks to choose from, including Houston’s, Two Fat Men Ice Cream, and Vietnam Veterans Chapter 1004. While the Symphony performance is scheduled for 7:30PM, pre-show activities like the Symphony’s Instrument Petting Zoo, Sidewalk Chalk, sponsored by Cumberland University, and student performances from members of Camp Fame will take place prior to the show.
“We are confident that guests seeing our campus for the first time, or for the first time in some years, will be captivated by our enhancements,” said President Paul C. Stutmb. “It is an honor to host events like this that bring our community together. Community is at the heart of everything we do, and we look forward to sharing this night of music with our friends and neighbors.”
Generous funds provided by Publix Super Market Charities, Middle Tennessee Electric, and Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County make free community concerts with the Nashville Symphony possible.
