Cumberland University announced today that four new trustees have been elected to the Board of Trust. Laura Daily, Michael Moscardelli, Rob E. Porter and Dr. Ed Powell were elected during the Board of Trust Spring Meeting on Wednesday, June 19.
President Paul Stumb is pleased to have these accomplished individuals join the Board of Trust.
“Cumberland is fortunate to have Laura Daily, Michael Moscardelli, Rob E. Porter and Dr. Ed Powell elected to the board,” said President Stumb. “They demonstrate strong skill sets in their areas of expertise and have shown deep commitments to both our institution and our community. I speak on behalf of the entire university when I say we are thrilled to have these new trustees join the board, and I know they will play a key role in our mission to raise Cumberland to even higher levels of distinction.”
Lebanon resident and Senior Vice President of Retail at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, Inc. Laura Daily has served in her current role since 2012. Daily is responsible for all aspects of the company’s retail merchandising, planning and allocation functions and has over 25 years of experience as a merchant with various organizations including Ballard Designs, Spiegel, Inc. and Carson Pirie Scott. Daily is a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and the University of Illinois. She has a passion for higher education and making a difference in her home of Wilson County.
Lebanon native Michael Moscardelli previously owned and operated his family’s manufacturing business, PFP, with his brother before the company was sold in 2018. Moscardelli is a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and the University of Tennessee College of Law. He serves on the board of directors at CedarStone Bank and has been involved in the Lebanon/Wilson Chamber of Commerce, Nashville’s Young Leaders Council, Leadership Wilson and the Nashville Chapter of the Entrepreneur’s Organization (EO). Moscardelli’s father, Fran Moscardelli, previously served on the Cumberland University Board of Trust.
Old Hickory resident Rob E. Porter has been the President and CEO of Civil Site Design Group since 2001. He received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Tennessee Technological Institute. Porter has over 30 years of engineering experience and has worked on a variety of notable projects in the Nashville area including Opry Mills, Tennessee Titan’s Stadium and Five Oaks Golf Course. Porter is involved in Rotary, various non-profit boards and serves as a member on the Engineering Advisory Board for Tennessee Tech University.
Dr. Powell, a Nashville resident, currently serves as the CEO of IPX, which manages Intellectual Property portfolios and provides innovation-related advisory and monetization services. Powell received his Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from Auburn University and his Doctorate in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Texas. He has been involved at Cumberland leading strategic planning efforts, and is a member of the Board of Trustees at Montgomery Bell Academy.
