The Cumberland University Office of Advancement announced today that the Dr. H. Bert Coble Memorial Instrument Maintenance Endowment Fund has been fully funded at the goal of $120,000.
The endowed fund was established by Mrs. Sue Coble following the installation of a custom-built pipe organ named in honor of her late husband, Professor Emeritus Dr. Bert Coble, to provide financial resources for the maintenance and preservation of the pipe organ and two pianos.
“Dr. Coble was a dearly beloved member of the music faculty who touched the lives of so many during his 16 years on our campus,” said Staci Galentine, Vice President of Advancement. “The completion of this fund will allow for the Dr. H. Bert Coble Memorial Pipe Organ, Kawai Piano and Steinway Piano to be cared for in perpetuity. It is the hope of the CU and Coble family that these instruments will make an impact on the lives of our students and our community just as Dr. Coble did.”
The 1,200 pipe custom organ was donated to Cumberland in 2017 from Lifeway Christian Resources of the Southern Baptist Convention and now proudly sits in Baird Chapel in Memorial Hall.
