Registration
Registration is always an exciting time at Cumberland University. You will complete your registration process virtually before you can access the online orientation through Canvas. Follow these steps to get your registration started.
-
Step 1: Complete the My CU Decision Form
Congratulations on your acceptance to Cumberland University! We look forward to celebrating your achievements and cheering you on towards your goals. Your first step is to accept your admissions offer by completing the My Cumberland Decision form.
-
Step 2: Submit any remaining documents
If you have not submitted your immunization records or final transcripts please email these to admissions@cumberland.edu. Immunization Records are a state requirement in order for any student to attend Cumberland University. If you have completed any dual-enrollment courses or attended another college prior to Cumberland University please ensure we receive all final transcripts. These items must be received before you can take the next steps in registration.
If you have questions regarding your admissions file, please contact The Office of Admissions at (615) 547-1246 or email admissions@cumberland.edu.
-
Step 3: Activate your Cumberland portal
Every student is given an account with access to various software platforms to use during their time at CU. Your Cumberland portal will need to be activated to register for classes. Your portal will also show you what we might be missing from you in order to start the registration process.
Once your portal is activated, please review your account to ensure we’ve received all your supplemental application materials. You will not be able to register until all your application materials have been received.
If you have any questions or need any help activating your portal or your next steps, please don’t hesitate to reach out to The Office of Admissions at (615) 547-1246 or email admissions@cumberland.edu.
-
Step 4: Advisor Email and Introduction
It’s time to meet your academic advisor! Your advisor will be an integral part of your success during your academic career at CU. They will be a constant resource for you in navigating college life, choosing your courses, and what your future will look like once you graduate.
The Office of Admissions will send you an email introducing you to your academic advisor. You and your advisor will schedule a time to connect through a virtual video conference, via Zoom, Google Hangout, etc. or by phone.
During this conversation, you’ll receive tips for being successful in your first semester, talk about your plans for your program of study, and review your schedule for the upcoming semester.
You can access your schedule in your student portal, located here. When logging in, be sure the “FA-21” semester is selected. Once in CAMS, select “Admin” then “My Schedule” to view your schedule.
After you complete your advising appointment, your advisor will ask you to confirm your schedule with an email. This is an important step as it signifies your approval of the schedule, in lieu of a physical signature.
You will “Reply All” to this message to confirm your schedule.
Once you’ve completed this step, you will be registered for your Fall 2021 courses!
If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact the Office of Admissions at (615) 547-1246 or email admissions@cumberland.edu.
-
Step 5: Complete Emergency Contact Form
While you’re at Cumberland, we’ll need contact information on file for who you would want us to call in case of a medical emergency. This could be a parent, grandparent, family member or friend that you would want us to contact should something unforeseen happen to you while at CU.
-
Step 6: Complete the FERPA Form
FERPA stands for Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act, and is a Federal law administered by the Department of Education that protects the privacy of student education records.
As a student, you have rights guaranteed by FERPA.
-
You have the right of access to education records.
-
You have the right to consent to the release of records to third parties.
-
You have the right to challenge inaccurate or misleading information in an education record.
-
You have the right to file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education concerning non-compliance with FERPA.
FERPA rights belong to you, the student, not your parent or guardian. This means that you must consent before a record is disclosed to your parents or legal guardians. As a CU student, you can authorize CU to discuss your educational records with your parents or guardians by completing the FERPA form.
The form allows you to fill in all items before printing. Once you have the form items completed, download and sign the form in the required two (2) places and date the form. Be sure to complete all steps. If any step is left incomplete, you will be required to complete a new form. You will need your Cumberland ID Number to complete the form.
To submit your FERPA Form, email admissions@cumberland.edu and attach your completed FERPA Form as a jpeg or pdf file. Also, you must attach a photo of a government issued identification card that contains your signature. This will serve as verification of the signature on the FERPA Form.
