Compassion, Unity, and Diversity Committee
The Compassion, Unity, and Diversity Committee (C.U. Diversity Committee) was established in Summer 2020, revitalized in Spring 2023, following the completion of the Diversity and Inclusion Task Force’s work. The mission of the C.U. Diversity Committee is to contribute to the creation, influence, and sustainability of a community where the dignity of all people is respected and affirmed through the promotion of an inclusive campus environment the engages in community dialogue; promotes cultural awareness, respect, and appreciation; challenges bias on the basis of race and ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation, disability, social class, and other distinction.
The C.U. Diversity Committee is composed of faculty and staff across all academic and administrative units on campus. The Committee additional acts in an advisory capacity to the Office of Diversity. Members of the C.U. Diversity Committee will work to identify and disseminate best practices around the successful coordination and execution of diversity programs and initiatives at Cumberland University.
