Applying for Residency
Cumberland requires freshmen students to live in a residence hall unless they receive documented exemption from the Office of Residence Life. For the purposes of housing, a freshman is defined as any first time entering freshman student attempting nine (9) credit hours or more, any freshman with college experience (advanced placement, dual credit, etc.), and/or any transfer student with less than 30 hours earned.
How to Apply
To apply for residency you should complete the Residence Application. Your application aids the Office of Residence Life with roommate assignments. These assignments are more successful when you complete the application rather than your parent or guardian.
Included in this form, you’ll find your housing application, emergency contact information, housing contract, and information about paying your housing deposit fees.
Application and fees must be received prior to assignments being made. Housing contracts must be signed by the incoming student in order to be considered accepted.
Assignments are made based on the date your housing deposit is paid. Housing assignments for the fall semester are available after July 1st. Assignments for incoming spring semester students are available after December 1st.

-
You are married
Requires a copy of marriage certificate
-

In the event a student requests to live off campus for other reasons than those listed above, the student may petition for a waiver. The waiver is reviewed by a committee and a determination made whether to grant the petition or not.
