Cumberland University will kick off its annual Homecoming festivities on Oct. 2 through Oct. 7 with events for students, alumni and the community, including its first annual Homecoming Concert featuring Oliver Steele. Steele, Top American Idol contestant and Wilson County native, will perform on Oct. 5 at 5:30 p.m. on Memorial Hall’s lawn during a community concert. After the Homecoming Concert on Oct. 5, Cumberland alumni are invited to enjoy drinks and dessert at the annual Party on the Patio at the Catron Alumni House. Alumni may RSVP here.
“Homecoming allows our students, alumni and community to come together and celebrate our rich history and what the university means to them,” said Alumni Relations Coordinator, Caroline Haynes. “We are excited to have our first annual Homecoming Concert this year, which is free to the campus and local community, as well as a number of alumni-specific events to celebrate the annual Homecoming weekend.”
With this year’s Homecoming theme of “Under the Big Stadium Lights,” Student Life will host a variety of carnival inspired activities for students throughout the week. Additional events include an alumni Volleyball Match, Men’s Soccer alumni match and men’s soccer tailgate.
The Homecoming football game against The University of the Cumberlands will be held on Oct. 7 at Nokes-Lasater Field with tailgating beginning at 11:00 a.m. kick off at 1:30 p.m. The homecoming court and the crowning of king and queen will take place during halftime. Everyone from the community is welcome to attend the Homecoming tailgate and game. Tickets for the game can be purchased here.
