What are your future plans? 

I’m hopeful that after graduating, I’ll have the opportunity to manage and lead people in some capacity. 

What faculty and staff members have helped you achieve your goals while at CU?

Dr. Mary Haley. She was my advisor for all four years of my undergrad. Dr. Haley had a track for me as soon as I met with her during my freshman year to discuss my plans at CU. She was the person I went to for everything.

Courtney Vick. I got to know Courtney on Dr. Heifner’s annual school trip to New Mexico. She gave me the opportunity to be her Graduate Assistant in Career Services and it was such a great experience to learn under LeAnn Blevins, our current director of Career Services. 

Leslie Steele. I have known Leslie for many years before coming to Cumberland. I have always gone to her for any advice. 

LeAnn Blevins. Mrs. Blevins joined CU in Career Services just as I started the graduate assistant position. I am happy to have the opportunity to work for and with her. 

What is your favorite part about being a student at CU?

CU has always been very welcoming to me, but my favorite part is that my professors to the effort to get to know me personally rather than just a name on their attendance list. 

What is the greatest lesson you’ve learned while at CU?

During my time at CU, I have learned how to be a leader. In the MBA program, there are many opportunities to work in groups and I have always jumped to volunteer as the leader which has allowed me to develop the skills to lead teams through challenging projects.

What was it like to have your last semester under COVID-19?

It actually helped me in a few ways. I was hesitant about having all of my courses moved online, but it turned out that being able to have free time from staying at home helped me focus on my assignments. I even had time to complete them weeks before they are due. 

Do you have a fun fact you’d like to share?

I will be a second-generation CU graduate! My dad played baseball for Coach Woody Hunt in the late 80s. I grew up watching all CU sports and going to Coach Hunt’s baseball camps since I was about 7 years old.
