Cumberland to Participate in The Big Payback

Cumberland University will participate in The Big Payback, a 24-hour, online giving event created to help Middle Tennessee nonprofits raise funds vital to continuing their work and directly improving the community around them.

Presented by The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, this year’s event will be held Wed., May 6 – Thurs., May 7.

Once the clock starts, anyone can visit TheBigPayback.org and make donations to Cumberland University and other participating nonprofits — including schools and religious institutions — serving the 40 counties of Middle Tennessee.

Donors can view and select from participating organizations throughout Middle Tennessee. Donors who choose to give to Cumberland can choose how their funds are allocated across campus.

“Cumberland is making every effort to ensure our students have the best college experience possible, even in the midst of a pandemic,” said Senior Director of Annual Giving and Alumni Relations Courtney Vick. “The continued support and generosity from our alumni and friends gives us hope that future generations of CU students will get the same special experience that I did during my time as a student here. If you are able to give during this time, I encourage you to consider giving to the students at CU.”

Gifts from the public during The Big Payback are boosted with funds from sponsors of the event, which provide multiple opportunities for Cumberland University to vie for financial incentives and additional prizes. The real-time leaderboard hosted on TheBigPayback.org tracks donations and creates additional excitement surrounding the day.
