Cumberland University awarded Master Portrait Painter Igor Babailov with an honorary doctorate degree during the 2019 Commencement Ceremony.

Babailov has created portraits of three Presidents, two Prime Ministers, members of the noble families and British Royalty, and three Popes for the Vatican. He has painted over 2,000 commissioned portraits, grand scale multi-figurative paintings and other works of art.

Babailov has been a great friend to the university, hosting multiple on-campus events for students, faculty, staff and the CU community, including a lecture series and live portrait demonstrations.

Chairman of the Cumberland University Board of Trust W.P. Bone is grateful to Babailov for his commitment to Cumberland.

“Cumberland is appreciative to Master Portrait Painter Igor Babailov for sharing his expertise with students, faculty, staff and community members,” said Bone. “We are proud to award an honorary degree to Babailov for his contributions to the university.”
