The Adams Fine Art Gallery at Cumberland University, Lebanon, TN, is pleased to present a group exhibition featuring new works by the Macon County Arts Council artists. The exhibit will run from September 15 – October 14 with an opening reception on September 15, 4:30-6:30. The artists will be available to speak about their work.

Fifteen artist will be featured in the show: Linda Johnson, Nancy Doss, Peggy Stephens, Evelyn White, Sally Yancey, Ellen Herb-Witte, Benny Maggart, Wynona Clayborne, Jason Draper, Doug Holder, Shirley Anderson, Louie and Ida Tucker, Dana Carter, and Pat Bailey.

The Macon County artist use a wide range of media including clay and metal sculpture, painting, mixed media, pottery, photography, woodworking, and basketry. Some of the artists work has been described as using experimental techniques, surrealistic in nature, realistic, and repurposed objects turned into art. President Evelyn White stated, “The show is a very good cross section of what Macon County has to offer.”

Macon County Arts Council was established ten years ago. Not only do they work with artist and crafts persons, Ms. White said that was only one facet of their program. The organization sponsors free workshops for children 5-12 years old, and community events. In 2017, the Council will host the Fisk Jubilee Singers and the Nashville Symphony. The organization is open to anyone who has an interest in the arts, not just artists.

The Adams Gallery in Heydel Fine Arts Center at Cumberland University is open 8-4:30 Monday-Friday, and other times by appointment.
