On February 24, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation hosted “Cumberland University Student Day” as part of TBI’s Academic Alliance Partner program. Thirty-three CU students spent the day at the Bureau’s headquarters in Nashville for a unique, hands-on learning experience.  TBI Special Agents interacted with students, discussed their occupation, and answered the students’ numerous questions. The hands-on demonstrations, lectures, a crime lab tour and violent crime response vehicle tour, shaped a valuable learning experience. A career presentation concluded the day with a discussion of opportunities such as internships and the TBI Criminal Justice Academy, according to Joe Minor, adjunct instructor of criminal justice and program director.

“There are around 12 students accepted from universities around the state and the TBI has set aside two slots for our students,” said Minor. Eric Cummings, dean of the School of Humanities, Education, and the Arts, said, “The fact that one-sixth of their spots are reserved for such a small university among so many, and some much larger universities in the state, is a great testament to Cumberland’s partnership with the TBI.”
