The Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK) nationally recognized Cumberland University as one of only eight transfer-friendly institutions in Tennessee. 

As part of the Tennessee Transfer Pathway (TTP), Cumberland University is dedicated to creating dynamic pathways to support students transferring from community colleges by providing a seamless credit transfer process as well as special financial aid opportunities. 

With institutional scholarships like the Phoenix Promise, eligible transfer students can complete a four-year degree at Cumberland for the same out-of-pocket costs as with the Tennessee Promise program that many students begin with at community colleges. In addition, the Cumberland (CU) Promise Scholarship provides up to $16,000 with transfer students being automatically eligible for a $6,000 grant. 

“I’m honored and extremely proud that Phi Theta Kappa has recognized our efforts,” said Vice President for Enrollment Services Reggie Blair. “We’ve been working diligently to improve our processes and scholarship opportunities for transfer students. I hope that more students who are considering their transfer options, will now be more aware of how simple Cumberland can make their transfer experience.” 

The PTK Transfer Honor Roll is determined by 40 key metrics related to the support and success of transfer students, including college cost and financial aid, campus life for transfer, admission practices and bachelor’s degree completion. The Transfer Honor Roll was based on analysis from the National Student Clearinghouse and Cumberland University’s submitted data.
