Cumberland University announced today that its Bachelor of Science in Nursing program has been reaccredited and its Master of Science in Nursing program has received initial accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
This recognition is the culmination of a comprehensive process, including an intensive 18-month self-study by the program faculty, as well as an-site evaluation of the program. CCNE evaluated the programs based on their mission statements, goals, and outcomes that are appropriate to prepare individuals to fulfill their expected roles.
Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Bill McKee is congratulatory of the nursing faculty and staff who helped throughout the accreditation process.
“I would like to congratulate and thank all of the hard-working faculty and staff who made this possible,” said McKee. “It is an honor to be accredited by CCNE and not only were these programs accredited, but they received accreditation for the maximum number of years.”
The Master of Science in Nursing program received initial accreditation until Spring 2023 and the Baccalaureate program received reaccreditation until Spring 2028.
Dean of the Rudy School of Nursing and Health Professions Dr. Mary Bess Griffith is thrilled with the recent accomplishments of the nursing programs.
“To have the CCNE stamp of approval means that we meet the national benchmark standards for nursing education and indicates that we prepare the highest quality nurses at both the baccalaureate and graduate levels,” said Griffith. “This is a result of our faculty and staff’s strong commitment to excellence in nursing education. Our nationally recognized accreditation reinforces that Cumberland University is an exemplary destination for those interested in the nursing and health professions field.”
