Jessica Cain will enter her second season as the head cheerleading and dance coach at Cumberland University during the 2024-2025 season.
Before coming to CU, she was the head coach of Davidson Academy’s varsity cheerleading program where her team finished 6th at the 2023 UCA High School Nationals in the school’s first UCA Nationals appearance in program history.

Cain earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish Education with a minor in Athletic Coaching from Campbellsville University. During her tenure at Campbellsville, she was also a member of the cheerleading squad from 2012-2016. She was a member of the 2015 MSC championship team and received the honor of 2015 MSC Champion of Character. Cain was also a member of the MSC All-Academic Conference team from 2014-2016. While on the squad she also competed at NCA College Nationals in Daytona, FL where the team consistently received a top ten finish.

She is married to her college sweetheart and fellow Campbellsville alum, Wes Cain, and the couple have one son, JJ.

Morgan is from Lafayette, TN where she graduated from Macon County High School in 2020. She then went on to attend Cumberland University. There, she graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration in 2021 and went on to graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a Major in Accounting and a Minor in Management in 2023.

While at Cumberland, Morgan was a Presidential Ambassador, Student Ambassador for the Tennessee Society of CPAs, and Student Ambassador for the Institute of Management Accountants. She was also a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa, Alpha Lambda Phi and Gamma Beta Phi Honor Societies.

Currently, Morgan is working on her Master’s Degree in Business Administration and is planning to graduate in May 2025. Morgan recently got married to her husband Trevor and enjoys coaching softball, traveling, and spending time with her family/friends.

Assistant Track and Field Coach

Cecilia Francis begins her first season as the Assistant Coach of the Cumberland track and field program after a very successful stint as a student-athlete and coach at Middle Tennessee State.

Prior to Cumberland, Francis served as an athletic coaching intern on the Middle Tennessee State University track & field team for one semester. During her tenure as a student intern, Francis helped recruit, manage resources, enforce discipline, and plan/schedule programs for practices. She trained three athletes to achieve All-American titles and five Conference USA champions.

Francis is a very well decorated athlete; she was a world championship representative and an All-African Games gold medalist for Nigeria in the women’s 4 x 100m relay in 2015. At MTSU, she was a Dean’s List student four times, Women’s track & field commissioner’s honor roll member three times, and a Conference USA Female Athlete of the week winner three times.

A native of Lagos, Nigeria, Francis earned her bachelor’s degree from Middle Tennessee State University in the spring of 2022 in Physical Education with a minor in Athletics Coaching.

Julian Lucumi enters his first season as the Cumberland Men’s Soccer Assistant Coach in 2023.  

Lucumi played his senior season at Cumberland after transferring from Belmont University. He started in eight games and appeared in 16 as a defender. He scored five goals, fourth-best on the team, to help Cumberland to the 2018 Mid-South Conference Championship and an NAIA National Tournament appearance. 

After his playing days, Lucumi started coaching and working at Belmont’s Men’s Soccer Camps assisting with preparation for training. From there, he went on to coach at Barca Academy in Nashville where he coached two teams per season. He provided administrative support to the academy and created playing schedules for the club. 

Lucumi served as a volunteer assistant here at Cumberland during the 2021 season working under coach Adam Grant and Shane Keely at the time. Lucumi analyzed the GPS information on the players after matches and also assisted with recruiting efforts. 

In 2022, Lucumi worked as an assistant coach at Ensworth High School assisting with both the varsity boys and girls teams. He also worked as a Facility Operations Manager for the Nashville Soccer Club and spent time at Nashville United Soccer Academy. 

Lucumi earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from Cumberland University in May 2019 and went on to get a Master’s Degree of Sport Administration from Belmont in May 2022.

Head Men's and Women's Cross-Country Coach

Joshua McMillan is starting his second year as the men and women’s cross country coach. During his first year, Coach McMillan had one national qualifier for the women’s team in cross country who had the best finish in school history (46th). At the conference meet, both men and women’s teams had one representative for All-Conference. His women’s team finished second at the NAIA Marathon Championship.

While coaching the distance runners for the track team, Coach McMillan had one runner qualify for nationals in indoor track. During the outdoor season, one runner was conference champ for steeplechase and another qualified for nationals in the 10k where she finished 6th to become All-American.

Before coming to Cumberland, McMillan spent three years as head coach at Green Hill High School starting the program from the ground up. While there, his boys’ team made state every year with their best finish being 6th in 2022. His girls’ teams made state twice with their best finish being 13th in 2022.

He also doubles as the Throws Coach for Green Hill Track & Field in the spring coaching the shot put and discus. McMillan has coached seven state qualifiers in shot and disc with two top 8 finishes.

He is a USA Track & Field Level 2 Certified Coach.

McMillan graduated with an undergraduate degree in early childhood education from Henderson State (Ark.) and has received one Master’s Degrees from Austin Peay in computer science and qualitative methods with a concentration in mathematics.

Todd and his wife recently relocated to Middle Tennessee from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He previously served 25+ years teaching 8th grade American History. He is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University where he earned a B.A. in Liberal Arts and earned a teaching certification from Millersville State University.

In Todd’s free time he enjoys writing music, hiking, and attending basketball games as a retired head coach. He looks forward to mentoring future students at Cumberland University.
