Cumberland University will host a Senate Debate between Republican nominee Marsha Blackburn and Democratic nominee Phil Bredesen on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 6 p.m. in Baird Chapel of Memorial Hall.
Due to limited seating in the room, only those with a debate ticket will be allowed to view the debate from inside Baird Chapel. All tickets have already been assigned. Doors to Baird Chapel will open to ticket holders on Sept. 25 at 4:30 p.m. and will close at 5:30 p.m.
For those who do not have a debate ticket, Cumberland is providing multiple on-campus viewing locations. The lobby of the Learning Commons, Labry Hall Atrium, Heydel Fine Arts Center and Phillips Dining Hall will be set up to watch the debate live. Additionally, the debate will be broadcast live on NewsChannel 5 and on the Tennessean’s website, at www.tennessean.com. It will also be airing on Nashville Public Television on a one-hour delay.
Ticket holders and those with credentials are directed to park in the lot behind Memorial Hall and the lot between Memorial Hall and Labry Hall. In order to park in those lots on the day of the debate, you must show security your ticket or credential.
Those who would like to attend one of the on-campus viewings will need to park in alternative lots on campus or at either the Saint Frances Cabrini or Immanuel Baptist churches. University shuttles will run to and from Immanuel Baptist every ten minutes until 8 p.m. on Sept. 25.
Prior to entering Baird Chapel, ticket holders will be subject to security checks. All bags will be searched.
