Cumberland University President Paul C. Stumb announced Scott and Kirsten Harris as the official chairs for the 2019 Phoenix Ball. The 36thAnnual Phoenix Ball will be held on campus on Saturday, June 1, 2019. The annual ball is the university’s largest fundraising event and proceeds help provide scholarships to current Cumberland students.
President Paul C. Stumb is pleased to announce the Harrises as the co-chairs for this event.
“We are thrilled to have Scott and Kirsten at the helm of this event,” Stumb said. “Their several years of experience on the ball’s planning committee, along with their creativity and organization, lends to the continuity that creates a truly spectacular event.”
Scott and Kirsten Harris, along with their three-year-old daughter, Ebby, are lifelong residents of Wilson County. Their passionate involvement in the community over the years includes both volunteering for non-profits and pursuing their own small business endeavors. Currently, Scott is the sales manager and a Realtor®at Parks Realty and Auction Co., and Kirsten serves as an outreach liaison for Alive Hospice.
Kirsten and Scott are thrilled to be able to give back to Cumberland by co-chairing this event.
“We are deeply honored to serve as the chairs for the 2019 Phoenix Ball,” the Harrises shared. “As Wilson County’s premier event, the Phoenix Ball provides thousands of dollars in scholarships to Cumberland’s students while simultaniously cultivating important realationships between community members and the university. Many students would not be able to attend Cumberland without the scholarships the Ball provides because of its generous patrons.”
The Harrises announced “Moonlight and Magnolias: A Night of SouthernElegance”as the theme for the ball. They described a nuanced nostalgia for the old South’s heritage with a refreshed take on Southern warmth. Featuring classic indulgences like chandliers, magnolia trees, and gold-rimmed china with a re-imagined sophistication, the ball will give a nod to the rich southern history, yet continuous progression the university itself offers its students and alumni.
Cumberland Unviersity invites the community to reserve June 1, 2019, to attend the 36thAnnual Phoenix Ball. Information on tickets will be available soon.
