Cumberland University will host its fifth annual research Colloquium on Wednesday, Nov. 14. Faculty and students will present on topics that include perspectives on various research topics and projects being conducted at the university.
Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Bill McKee is looking forward to the university community coming together for such a special event.
“In its fifth year, Colloquium continues to be one of my favorite events on campus,” said McKee. “Each year the presentations get better than the year before, I look forward to seeing our student’s present work they are truly passionate about.”
Colloquium chairperson, Dr. Sarah Pierce, is thankful for everyone’s participation and assistance in helping to make this event an opportunity for students, faculty and community members to present their work.
“I’m proud to be part of creating this environment for Cumberland students and faculty to share the projects they have worked so hard on,” said Pierce. “With over 100 presentations in this years’ Colloquium, students will be exposed to a wide variety of topics, from The Relationship of Bipolar and Substance Abuse to Wilderness Survival Skills.”
The colloquium is designed to bring together members of the campus community for the purpose of enriching their understanding of a variety of topics, both research and interest-based, through student, faculty and community member presentations. The event offers an opportunity of intense examination of issues and research. All are invited to join Cumberland’s celebration of scholarship and efforts to publicly acknowledge the academic excellence of faculty, students and community members.
The day will begin with opening remarks by University President Dr. Paul C. Stumb and Executive Director of Academic Support, and Assistant Professor of Leadership Studies Dr. Sheridan Henson in the Dallas Floyd Phoenix Arena followed by poster presentations. The remainder of the day is broken into sessions with multiple presentations taking place at locations throughout campus.
